Acronyms are used for much more than institutions. They can refer to anything, from technical terms to entire phrases, but they can be very confusing. While chatting, a friend can use all sorts of acronyms and you will have no idea what he is talking about. If you want to keep up with this trend, Acrolexic will help you. It includes a vast range of definitions for all sorts of acronyms and abbreviations. If you want to know what a certain acronym refers to, you can find it in this dictionary.

Acrolexic can be installed swiftly on any computer, regardless of its performance. The 15 MB setup file can be downloaded swiftly with any modern day Internet connection. Once installed, you can run the application right away, without rebooting your computer or installing additional tools or services.

You can find a very long list of acronyms, abbreviations, file extensions, as well as text-based smileys, on Acrolexic's interface. If you are looking for something in particular, you can type in a search box, beneath the list and you will find it instantly. Double clicking a listed item will display its definitions on a separate window.

There are countless acronyms with more than one definition. For example, CPU stands for Central Processing Unit, but it may also refer to Commonwealth Press Union and other terms or institutions. Acrolexic includes over 70 thousand terms and over 150 thousand definitions. If you can't find a definition, for a certain term, you may add it yourself. This is done on a different window, where you can type in a term and up to seven definitions. You can also access a manager, where you may add any number of definitions.

Definitions are ranked with stars, according to their popularity. A higher rank means that it is the most frequently used definition for a certain term. Custom definitions are listed with a different icon, making them easier to spot.
